Club Senior Program (VVL)

MID SEASON REVIEW

Our two Men’s teams are competing strongly in both the Premier and Reserve Divisions this year. Both teams are the youngest by far in both their divisions. Unfortunately there has not been much reward for their efforts thus far but the Club is so proud of the way both teams have come together and show great character and enormous potential for the years to come for this Club. Well done boys so far.
The Premier Women’s team is sitting third which is a reflection of their experience and the talent within the team. The Reserve Women’s team once again have played in more tight 4 and 5 set matches with a mix of results and currently sits 6th with the chance to play finals still a possibility. The Club has three Div 2 Women’s teams in the competition with teams sitting 2nd, 9th and 11th in a 17 team competition. Our Div 3 Women’s team is very young but is sitting on top of the ladder with only one loss so far this season.
Not only are we proud of our players but also a lot of credit must go to our coaches, Jim, Fathi, Jonny, Nic, John, Craig, Nat, Tanya, Katie and our newest coaching recruit Aimee. Well done and keep up the good work.

VVL SENIOR TEAMS BACK IN TRAINING

Our three Senior Men’s Teams will start training on Tuesday 7 February at Penleigh Essendon Grammar School (Corner Rachelle and Keilor Roads, East Keilor) from 7-9.30pm.
We are very excited to have Scott Handley and Jim Konjarski return as Premier and Reserve Coaches, and we are also pleased to welcome John Allen (Volleyball and Strength and Conditioning Coach) and Andrew McCaskill to our coaching staff.
Andrew McCaskill has many years experience with the Volleyball Australia’s Junior and Senior Men’s Programs, and he is looking forward to contributing to the growth of our Men’s Program over the coming years.

2013 VVL DRAW
2013 VVL Teams

Update on 4th April 2013

Hi coaches and Players,

We are getting closer to the start of VVL so I thought I would give you an update of where we sit:
Dates for VVL
The first round is set down for Saturday 27 April.
The draw is being worked out now and we should receive the draft draw soon. We have not heard any more of the proposal to bring the finals forward to accommodate those players going overseas.

Number of Heidelberg teams in VVL
We have a record number of eight teams in the competition this year.

Uniforms.
The premier men and women will be receiving their new uniforms as they pay their club fees.
We will be asking for their old uniforms back in return so we can create a stockholding.
All other teams will be playing in last year’s uniforms and new players will receive their uniforms once they have paid club fees.

Training Venues.
PEGS – it is a condition of access that only Jonny and myself are authorised by PEGS to open and close the training venue using key and security code.
Heathmont College – Craig is the trusted agent at Heathmont with the keys and security code.
Santamaria College – George has the keys for Santamaria College
CLC – it is a conditon of access that only Jonny and myself are authorised by CLC to open and close the training venue using key and security code.
We have all been frustrated with the lack of access to Santamaria College and we are now looking for an alternate central training venue for the men on Thursday nights (preferably with two courts).

Club Fees – As of today, the majority of players have not paid their club fees. And as the coaches have all agreed to not play a player who is not a fully paid up member of the club, if the first round was this Saturday, Heidelberg could not field one team in any division. Not one player has approached the committee regarding a payment plan, so we can only assume all players are able to pay their fees electronically in time to play round one.
See below for bank details.

Ballarat Tournament
Heidelberg will be fielding at least one women’s team (Div 2E) at Ballarat. Another women’s team formed from Reserve and the other Div 2 teams may compete. At this stage there has been no indication a men’s team is going to play in Ballarat.

Good luck to all coaches and players for the remainder of the pre-season.

Jenny Becker
President
