BERGERS MAKE AUSSIE SIDES

Only five Victorians have been selected into the  Australian Youth and Junior Women’s teams for the upcoming Asian Championships, with four  of those five Victorians being  Heidelbergers. Congratulations to Lauren Cox, Elly McInerney, Caity Tipping and Maria Lukic. As a Club we have worked hard to create the Club Development Pathway, which is proving to be very successful. The training and competition opportunities along with the quality coaching within the Club and at the Heidelberg Volleyball Academy, combine to create the environment for athletes to continually develop and improve. JUNIOR BERGERS TOURNAMENT

The club is fielding seven junior teams in the Western Region Tournament this Sunday 22 October. So much work is going into our junior development at the moment with six sessions Monday to Thursday, as well as Friday night matches. We will have three girls teams, two boys teams and two mixed under 13 teams (some as young as 8  years of age) playing this coming Sunday. Good luck to all the coaches and players and have fun. Go to the Junior Club Page for teams and draws.

WE ARE BACK

After a hugely successful Presentation Dinner enjoyed by 110 guests, and fielding six teams in the Bendigo junior tournament, the Club took a little break over the school holidays. However, a number of our junior Bergers represented Victoria at the recently concluded Australian Junior Volleyball Championships, and some of our senior players have embarked on their Australian Volleyball League campaigns. Congrats and good luck to all those players.
It is now time for the Club to ramp up again for the last three months of the year, as many of you are preparing for Australian Volleyball Schools Cup in December, Oz camps and the summer beach season.
Training opportunities are open to all club members:
Mondays – invited junior girls 6-7.30 and senior women VVL players from 7.30-9pm at Ivanhoe Grammar.
Tuesdays – junior boys and girls 6-7.30 at PEGS in East Keilor and senior men VVL players.
Wednesdays – invited junior girls and senior women VVL players 7-9pm at Darebin.
Thursdays – junior boys and juniors girls 6-7.30 at Catholic Ladies College in Eltham.
Email the club at heidelbergvolleyballclub@hotmail.com  if you are interested in attending any of these.
Email the club if you are interested in playing in any of the upcoming tournaments and competitions over the next couple of months:
WRV Junior Tournament Sunday 22 October
Bendigo Tournament 28-29 October
Ballarat  Tournament 18-19 November
Thursday night Northern Volleyball Beach Volleyball
Friday night WRV summer competition
So a lot more volleyball to come before the end of year break.
And just a reminder the VVL team selections will commence at the end of January for an early March Round 1 of VVL.
